There is no tougher job than that of parenting. This statement is not said in a way that is meant to be conciliatory or patronizing; it is simply a statement of fact. Anyone who decides to have children and be a primary caretaker for those children has begun a lifetime job that will not end until one’s own death or the child’s death. It is a job that oftentimes is thankless and grossly unappreciated. It is a job that earns no tangible reward and is fraught with worries, fears, and at times hurt and frustration.
Yet, being a parent is also one of the most wondrous things that we as human beings will ever embark upon. Seeing your children for the first time, reveling in their every accomplishment and watching them grow to become adults are things which are priceless and unforgettable.
When my colleague and I decided to write this book, we wanted to create a guide which would provide the reader with techniques which are simple, practical, and easy to implement. Additionally, we wish to address the common struggles that many parents experience that can try their patience and reduce their ability to appreciate the joys of parenting.
As you read through the information we have compiled, keep in mind that the two most important skills you can instill in your children are: 1)the ability to self-soothe and 2)the ability to self-discipline. Without these two skills, children will never reach their potential, either academically or interpersonally. Throughout this book, we will show you how to help your children learn these two critical skills.

3)You have to lay down on a couch when you see a therapist.
4)All therapists are men and have beards and have deep, European accents.

7)If the therapist has never had my problem, then they can’t help me.
